Listen to this site with Browsealoud

Whether you are using a Smartphone, Tablet, PC or Mac, Browsealoud will provide the reading support tools you require for free.

What is Browsealoud?

Browsealoud is a suite of products that provides reading support on websites. Browsealoud reads website content out loud, highlighting each word as it is spoken in a high quality, human-sounding voice. Other features include:

  • Dual-Colour Highlighting
  • Text Magnification
  • Talking Dictionary
  • Talking Translator
  • MP3 Maker
  • Screen Masking

More than 7,000 websites use Browsealoud, so once you have it on your device you can listen to all of these websites too.

Who Browsealoud Helps?

Browsealoud helps any website visitor who requires online reading support or simply wishes to listen to the information on this website instead of reading it. Browsealoud is particularly useful for those with print disabilities such as dyslexia or mild visual impairments and those with English as a second language.

How do I get Browsealoud?

Browsealoud is free to use and works with all major browsers.

To ensure Browsealoud works on every page you want to read, simply click on the 'question mark' icon within the Browsealoud button above and then drag and drop the Browsealoud Plus link into your Bookmarks, or Favourites bar. You will need to click this link every time you require Browsealoud support.

If you use 'Firefox' you will need to disable the 'texthelphighlighter' before you can access Browsealoud. To do this, click on the drop down arrow beside the 'Firefox' button on the top left hand side of the Browser window and select 'Add ons' and then 'Extensions'. Disable the extension 'texthelphighlighter' and then click the instruction to restart Firefox. Once this is completed, simply click on the 'question mark' icon within the Browsealoud button and then drag and drop the Browsealoud Plus link into your Bookmarks. You will then need to click the link every time you need the Browsealoud support.

To use Browsealoud's fully-featured version, which includes a dictionary, a translator, an MP3 maker, a text magnifier and reads secure web pages and PDFs, visit the Browsealoud website to download a small application, free of charge, at TextHelp / Browsealoud.
