Ideas on having an alternative wedding

Are you planning your wedding and seeking out creative ideas to make it unique? We’ve put together some advice on how you can mix it up.

Opt for a different venue or location

Think outside the box on this one! If a church wedding isn’t for you, don’t worry, this just means your venue and location possibilities are endless. What about having your wedding at a place you visit regularly, that you and your partner are both fond of? You might even fall in love with a venue whilst you’re out for a walk or drive, it could be a remote field in the great outdoors or maybe even a small studio.

Keep it minimal?

So, you’ve decided a big white wedding isn’t quite what you are after and just because it’s considered the ideal day for many people, it doesn’t mean it’s for you. If you only want to invite a handful of people, you shouldn’t feel worried about leaving people out. After all, on your big day, you and your partner’s feelings are the only ones that should matter. We’re not saying you have to invite the minimal amount of people as possible, but it would allow you to explore the possibility of smaller, more intimate venues or locations.

Consider the food

Again, the possibilities are endless! Maybe you and your partner are big fans of Indian, Chinese or Thai food, what about pizzas or burgers, fries and shakes? Break from the norm and go for something different! Just make sure there’s enough choice to cater for everyone’s needs on the day.

Switch up the music

Slip away from the mainstream or the classic wedding soundtracks, and bring out your adventurous side! What’s your favourite film or musical? Maybe a Grease or High School Musical themed evening celebration could be right up your street. You and your partner could be remembered years after your wedding for your roles as Danny and Sandy.

If you’re considering having your wedding at West Park, take a look at the wide range of wedding reception and ceremony suites we have for you to consider. What ideas or dreams do you have for your wedding? Let us know on our Facebook page or on Twitter.
